Jacob's Odyssey
by Russ Melrose is a fantastic and unique take on the zombie apocalypse genre.
The main character is well developed and the scenarios he faces are all
too realistic. I love the addition of the intelligent, "Alpha,"
zombie and the relationship that it creates between Jacob and this particular
zombie throughout the novel. Jacob's story is fantastic and full of breath
taking and thrilling adventures.
As the story progresses,
Jacob picks up realistic experiences and useful abilities that, as a reader,
you could see someone in this position actually learning. The story becomes
more than a lumbering zombie thriller with the addition of the
enhanced hearing and persistence of the zombies that Melrose creates.
The secondary characters we meet are a fascinating addition to this novel
and with the terrifying and cliffhanger ending, we are left hoping and
waiting for a sequel. Russ Melrose has written a terrific novel and has
developed characters that are easy to remember and connect with.

would highly recommend this novel to all thriller, zombie, and
dystopian genre lovers. The writing is entertaining and encourages a page
turning pace. Here's to another book from Mr. Melrose, so that we can see how
Jacob's journey continues!
