Valkyrie: The Road by Tony Bowman is one of the most entertaining post-apocalyptic novels I have read in a long time. The story is unique and does not follow the stereotypical situations of most dystopian and apocalyptic novels. Bowman introduces a story reminiscent of the Mad Max series. The plot is full of thrilling and adventurous journeys and unique characters. You not only get the post-apocalyptic world most fans of this genre love, but you get Werewolves, Cannibals, Ghouls, and Vampires. How could you not love a story that includes every one of your favorite horror story characters?
Bowman introduces his characters and makes the reader love or hate them. The main protagonists are a close knit group and you can not help but feel like you are apart of the family as well. The antagonists have you clenching your teeth at the anticipation of their downfall. Bowman's story is one I would read over and over again!
The novel had the page turning effect you seek when reading a novel about the end of the world. I can not wait to see how this story progresses. I am left sitting on the edge of my seat awaiting the follow up to this story just to see how each character thrives, falls, and/or overcomes whatever this new life throws at them next.
