Rating: ★★★★
Chrissy Lessey creates a story that takes an adventurous look at the lives of an innocent witch coven in a beautiful North Carolina coastal town. Our main protagonist is seemingly unaware of her unique inheritance and ancestral background. While dealing with her own daily challenges, by raising her autistic son after a recent divorce, we watch this young woman come to terms with who she truly is.
Lessey has created fantastic characters that you can not help but fall in love with. She includes humor and adventure into a novel full of magic and old rivalries. Each character is developed to his or her fullest potential and you are allowed into the coven and are made privy to their daily challenges and protective instincts.
The Coven is a fantastical story that uses the history of the Salem witch trials and helps us to better understand the history and challenges faced by each character in this book. Lessey has a fantastic writing style that will keep you turning the pages just to see how this adventure progresses.
I can not separate this novel into a specific genre, as it is perfect for readers of all ages. I look forward to continuing this series to see how the coven overcomes the many challenges and obstacles of everyday life.
